The Daddy Test - Ten Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Introduce His Sperm to Your Egg
Ten Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Introduce His Sperm to Your Egg
1. Is his career settled enough for the financial hit he's about to take? If he's in career building mode, he won't have the time to be a good father, nor the money. Does he really understand this commitment?
2. Did he have loving, consistent, and respectful parents himself? We parent the way we were parented. Good fathers are not born, they are created by good mothers. If he harbors residual anger toward Mom and/or Dad, he may need some therapy to work though those issues before he transfers his dysfunctional family dynamics to a new generation.
3. Is he ready? Is his peer group having babies yet? How involved are they? What does he say when you ask him the question about having kids? If his answer is "someday" then believe him -- it's not this day!
4. How does he treat animals? Are dogs all about rough housing for his enjoyment, or does he cuddle and console them as well? If he's puppy lover, that's a good sign.
5. How does he react to you when you are feeling like a baby? Does your PMS crying jag bring out consoling in him or does it make him angry or avoidant? If he becomes impatient with displays of emotions, he'll have a hard time being empathetic with a baby whose emotions are completely amplified.
6. Has he ever made a negative comment about men who wear babies in slings? If he snickers at PDF's (Public Displays of Fatherhood) then good fathers are not role models to him. He needs to identify with great fathers in order to become one.
7. What's his response to the site of bodily fluids? If he's got a queasy stomach, don't expect him to be hanging out much with a bundle who spews body fluids all day long. If he makes you close the bathroom door when you pee, how will he ever last with a male baby who sprays in his face?
8. How does he fare on sleep deprivation? If he turns into an ogre when he doesn't get his full eight hours, he'll be no help to you in the wee hours of the night with a fussy baby.
9. How does he approach a baby or child? Does he get down to their level or comfortably pick them up to his? Or does, he stand straight and look down on them? Kudos to the man on the floor.
10. Does this man have a good ability to delay gratification, when it comes to putting his sexual energy on hold? Is he ready lend his favorite toys to his child for quite awhile? (i.e. your breasts)
SCORING:
Now only a woman (or a gay man) could score ten out of ten on this test. Let's be realistic. We're all human and no one is perfect. Raising babies is not a task for the weak. But, if your man scored a seven or more, he's probably ready to be a Daddy.

"Well done, Ms. Walsh! Today I saw your entertaining interview on The Early Show, CBS. You convinced me - at the gym running on the treadmill facing the tv - to check out your website. Tired of narcissistic men (save me please from these assholes), I am planning now to buy your book. Very good interview, sister."
